What a horrible thought Kevin...lol...straight from the bed into the fridge..I suppose you could keep the refreshments in their while it is not being used..

It looks like it has a plastic tray in the draw, is it a laundry shoot.
Or perhaps just to store the patients clothes in.
It's a maternity ward, and you keep the baby in there.
Is that the same picture up on the wall.
To put your belongs in, and your crossword book, during your stay there.

The drawer is used to transport a baby from the mother to the nursery / nursing station on the other side of the wall.The baby was transferred to the nursery so the mother could rest and sleep. This was developed in the 1960's at Kaiser Permanente Hospitals in Northern California.. This photo was taken at the Oakland Museum exhibit of Hennry J. Kaiser, who started the Kasier Permanente Hospitals. Henry J. JKaiser always said he wanted to be remembered for the Kaiser Permanent Health care program.
