A Texas Blessing and some real home truths!!!

TEXAS BLESSING

Bless this house, oh Lord, we cry.
Please keep it cool in mid-July.
Bless the walls where termites dine,
while ants and roaches march in time.
Bless our yard where spiders pass
fire ant castles in the grass.
Bless the garage, a home to please
carpenter beetles, ticks and fleas.
Bless the love bugs, two by two,
the gnats and mosquitoes that feed on you.
Millions of creatures that fly or crawl,
in Texas, Lord, you've put them all!!
But this is home, and here we'll stay,
So thank you Lord, for insect spray.
.............there's more....................

YOU KNOW YOU ARE IN TEXAS IN JULY WHEN...
The birds have to use potholders to pull worms out of the ground.
The trees are whistling for the dogs.
The best parking place is determined by shade instead of distance.
Hot water now comes out of both taps.
You can make sun tea instantly.
You learn that a seat belt buckle makes a pretty good branding iron.
The temperature drops below 95 and you feel a little chilly.
You discover that in July it only takes 2 fingers to steer your car.
You discover that you can get sunburned through your car window.
You actually burn your hand opening the car door.
You break into a sweat the instant you step outside at 7:30 a.m.
Your biggest bicycle wreck fear is, "What if I get knocked out and end up lying on the pavement and cook to death?"
You realize that asphalt has a liquid state.
The potatoes cook underground, so all you have to do is pull one out and add butter, salt and pepper.
Farmers are feeding their chickens crushed ice to keep them from laying boiled eggs.
The cows are giving evaporated milk.
Ah, what a place to call home..

Who did the 100th post?

Who did the 100th post?

Leigh asked me if Tuxso was as tough as I made him out to be. Yes, under all that cute fluffy fur, Tuxso is a real street tough. He thinks he owns the whole neighbor hood and will go after any cat male or female to defend his territory. For a big cat (15 lbs (6.8 kilos) he sure has a high pitch meow. I read an article on walking a cat, they said to let them lead. So Tuxso leads me around when we go for a walk. I refuse to crawl under the cars of courses. ;-)

"NEED HELP"..Have to try and work out what these are..They are from a what is it site..Any ideas???? Posted by Hello

My Coconut palms in my front garden..I have five of these..not safe to linger under them for too long!! :-) Posted by Hello

I apologise for the fourth picture, but I love herbs, I don't use them in cooking (apart from mint), I just love their smell, their colour and their beauty.  Posted by Hello

As you can tell, I like Irises. This yellow Iris is in my little pool. Posted by Hello

I had to include this one, I've had this Iris for 10 years, ever since my father died. It used to be his, and was kept in a bucket.  Posted by Hello

Tour De Lance

The poor French, they just can't win at their own sport. Lance Armstrong is real athlete.

Miniature fayre

Hi, the title is the link to the "Model Mania" event that I went to this afternoon.  Thought you may like to visit the site and see their pictures, when they post them.

Miniatures

Rob and I went to the Miniature Fayre.  It was in a little village school and was in every room in the school.  There were models of boats, Naval boats, British and American, with miniature jeeps, tanks and all sorts.  There were trains of different sizes, there were RAF model planes, there were Scifi models like "Star Wars".  There was a little model from "War of the Worlds".  Then, of course, there was the miniature dolls house models, and things that the members of the club had made, and were selling.  (I bought a couple of things).  (Well, of course).

Then outside, there were the Radio Control things, a couple quite big tanks, three sit on steam engines, and radio controlled boats.  Really quite interesting.  Of course, if you like that sort of thing.

Miniature fayre

I'm going to a Miniaturist Fayre this afternoon.  It's in one of the little village schools round here.  Someone at work belongs to a club which makes things for Dolls Houses, which I am interested in, and they are selling some things they have made.  There will also be trains, boats and plans.  So I'm going to pop along, of course with my hubby person, I'm sure he really wants to go, so I can't let him miss it.  What sort of a wify thing would I be if I allowed that to happen.

Beware of e-mailing

Beware of e-mailing with the title Osama Found Hanged 2180 and Arnold Schwarzenegger Commits Suicide. They contain zip files that have a Worm in them. The senders addresses have a @columbia.edu in the Arnold e-mailing and @columbia.edu or @harvard.edu in the Osama e-mailing. I found them on the rec.models.scale web site. Fortunately I didn't open them.

Guess Who

Ho hum!! guess who made it on the South Seattle Community College President's Honor List for the second quarter in a row? It was little old me ;D. I maintained a 3.8-4.0 grade-point-average.

Too Hot

It was 96 degrees Fahrenheit (35.55 degrees Celsius for you metric people) today in Seattle (Humidty was 27%). Tomorrow will be about the same if not hotter, then it will cool down a little (can't wait). The highest recorded temperature in Seattle was 100 degrees Fahrenheit (37.77 degrees Celsius) in 1990. Just too hot for little wimps like me. :D

Me first, me first, me FIRST!

Why, oh why, does the car behind you have to speed up, cut in front of you as the light is changing to red, JUST TO BE IN FRONT OF YOU???  I am already going 5 mph over the speed limit, the lane is going down from 2 to 1, I can see the light changing to amber and am preparing to make the stop....when a young-ish female in a Honda Accord decides to pull over from behind me, fly around from the right and then slip in front only to slam on her brakes, in turn forcing me to do the same as we both arrive at a SCREAMING stop, leaving lovely tire treads on the road.  Spilled hot tea, everything from the back seat on the floor, my Tim McGraw CD now skips, and my seatbelt left a lovely red burn mark across my waist.

Made me want to smack into the rear end of her car and scream, "I may be older than you but I have WAY more insurance!!!!"

***sigh****

Ok.

Ok here's the thing: Miriam Ferguson was the first woman governor in Texas, and the second female governor in the United States.  Ann Richards was the second female governor of Texas.  Sorry to keep bringing this up, but ya know when a puzzle just niggles ya!

Audioblogs.

Hi, well, I'm having no success with the audioblog.  Every time I dial the number, I get, what I presume is an engaged tone.  I'll try again tomorrow, can't quite figure out what I'm doing wrong though.

Happy Birthday BrisPaul

Happy Birthday BrisPaul from Gary.

What I want for my Birthday Present

Here is a 2 month warning for what I want for my B' day present. I want a Ferrari Tessa Rossa or an F40 sportscar for my birthday.
BTW, Someone (former co-worker) already gave me a little die-cast Hot Wheels Ferrari F-40, so a real one would be real nice. :D

BrisPaul's pressie

Hey Brispaul, so, what was your pressie then?

Happy Birthday Brispaul

Have a wonderful birthday today Brispaul.  Here's to many more.

Sigh of Relief

We made it through Dory Days again this year.  The town sighed as all the tourists left and so did the residents!  Once a year our small town is invaded to celebrate the Dory's and the fishermen that supply so many with the bounty of the sea.  The fish fry was great as always and the parade of Dory Boats decorated to the nines was an added attraction.  We now have a Red Hat Ladies Club here.  I am not a member but got some pictures of them in all their glory in the parade.  Now back to normal and house chores and the Newsletter for the community center. Hope you all have a great day.

I hope I know what I am doing?????

OK here goes my first try.  Busy weekend with our annual Dory Days.  Thousand of people in town.  Parade and friends.  As of 8pm or so tonight the town will heave a big sigh and we will be back to normal.  Patty you come up with the best things to try!  You haven't led me astray yet!

Hi, Well this is me! Posted by Hello

Finally!

Well I finally did it, thanks Patty for your patience.  I can go to bed and sleep easy tonight.  Now, how do I do the voice thing?
